What’s a clinical specialist, anyway?
A cardiac clinical specialist works for one of four major companies: Medtronic, Abbott, Boston Scientific, and Biotronik. People in this entry-level position learn how to troubleshoot pacemaker, defibrillator, and cardiac resynchronization devices as well as provide support to physicians in the operating room during their implantation in a patient.
Typical Salary
Salary depends on experience, of course. If you’re just starting out, a Clinical Specialist will make between $60,000 - $80,000 per year, not including bonuses or benefits.
A Day in the Life
Your schedule will reflect the schedule in the hospitals and clinics where our customers work. Therefore you’ll be up early, and at times you’ll be home late. Every day will be a challenge, but every day you’ll make a positive difference in someone’s life. This is a very rewarding career.
What’s it take to get started?
Here’s a secret: every one of those companies we listed above is desperate to have someone on their team who can get to work RIGHT AWAY. When they hire you, they will train you in their proprietary method for 6 - 12 months. The faster they can train you, the better you look in an interview. That’s where we come in.
Option 1: Go to a Brick and Mortar Pacing School
This type of institution will charge you upwards of $30,000 and ask you to move to their location for approximately 3 - 6 months. You do gain a lot of experience and are quick to be trained, but the company you go to work for has to put you through their training program anyway. These are very expensive resume-builders.
Option 2: The Virtual Pacing Academy (we’re biased but this is better)
1/4 the cost, 1/2 the time, same result. We can’t put it more simply than that. If you want to start a rewarding career as a Cardiac Clinical Specialist but don’t know where to begin, don’t go to a brick and mortar institution. We will use our relationship-building model and get to know you while we train you. Then, when you’re about to graduate from our program, we’ll help develop your interview skills and use our network to set you up with the employer that is right for you.
