With 16 years of experience training people on cardiac medical devices, Shawn will mentor you every step of the way! Shawn has held many roles in the cardiac device industry including Clinical Specialist, Technical Field Engineer, and Strategic Director.
Shawn is considered an international subject matter expert on complex device topics such as leadless pacing and conduction system pacing.
Most importantly, Shawn is passionate about creating opportunities for people to succeed.

Lauren Condon
INSTRUCTOR
Lauren is an engineer with a PHYSICS background! This stellar instructor comes to every session prepared to teach. She is very thorough and brings 14 years of Medtronic Clinical Specialist experience to the Virtual Pacing Academy where she will undoubtedly help you succeed in learning the basics of pacing.
Recently retired from Medtronic to spend more time with her family, Lauren was a Principal Clinical Specialist and field mentor for the many new hires brought into the organization.

Martin Reilly
INSTRUCTOR
Martin is an experienced professional with over 21 years of experience in the medical device industry. Martin worked as a Clinical Specialist, Technical Field Engineer, and a Technical Services agent. Before leaving Cardiac Rhythm Management, Martin trained over 40 new Clinical Specialists and Sales Reps and achieved IBHRE certification.
Martin has a deep passion for education and is dedicated to helping others learn, grow, and succeed. His commitment to sharing knowledge and mentoring others continues to inspire those around him.

Mary Smith
Mary is a highly experienced professional with over 14 years of expertise in cardiac care. She began her career in the cardiac cath lab, where she built a solid foundation in interventional cardiology. She then discovered her passion for electrophysiology, which led her to the EP lab, where she further developed her skills in complex arrhythmia ablations.
For the past four years, Mary has been a Senior Clinical Specialist at Medtronic, where she provides expert guidance and support for cardiac device therapies, helping healthcare teams optimize device performance, troubleshoot complex issues, and enhance patient outcomes. She holds RCIS, RCES, and CCDS certifications, along with a master’s degree in marketing, blending clinical expertise with strategic insight.
Mary is passionate about education and believes that empowering others to learn and grow isn’t just about sharing knowledge—it’s about sparking confidence, curiosity, and a commitment to excellence. She is dedicated to helping others succeed through mentoring and training. By creating impactful learning opportunities, she fosters growth and development in those around her.goes here

Pam Elrod
Pam is the most experienced member of VPA’s staff. She started working in the Critcal Care Unit as a nurse in 1976 and moved through various cardiac nursing roles until 1984 when she started the pacing division of cardiology at her hospital. She joined Medtronic in 1992 and retired from the company in 2017 as a widely respected Technical Field Engineer and her journey is still going today as she works with our students to teach them everything she knows.
